Who may translate for Swiss authorities?
There is no single national register. Some cantons keep their own list of accepted translators, others do not, and some offices decide case by case — which is why this page tells you what to ask rather than what the answer is.

This page does not give you a rule, because there is no single rule to give. That is itself the most useful thing to know before you spend money.
No national register
Switzerland does not operate one country-wide register of sworn translators in the way some neighbouring states do. Arrangements are cantonal. Some cantons maintain a list of translators they accept; others rely on notarial certification of the translator’s signature; some offices decide on the document in front of them.
Why we mark this as unknown
Other pages on this site tell you plainly whether a translation made in Türkiye will be accepted. Here we cannot, because the honest answer depends on an office we have not asked. Publishing a confident general statement would be more comfortable to read and would sometimes be wrong — which, in a document chain, means a rebuilt file.
The question to send
Write to the office that will receive your file and ask: “Do you accept a translation of a Turkish document certified in Türkiye, or must it be produced by a translator on your list?” Include the document type and the intended use. Keep the reply.
If the answer is a cantonal list
Then that condition governs the translation and the written reply is what you follow. Our work stays the same either way: obtaining the Turkish record, presenting it to the competent Turkish authority for the apostille, and shipping. That is real and often slow work, and it is the part that decides how long the file takes.
If the answer allows a foreign certified translation
Then a translation certified in the Turkish system may be workable, and we can do it. Ask whether the office also wants notarial certification of the translator’s signature — that is an extra step with its own cost and it is not always required. See certified or notarised translation.
The reverse direction has a clear answer

Do not rely on precedent
“It worked for my cousin in 2022” is not evidence about your office today. Lists change, staff change, and practice changes with them. The cost of asking is a few days; the cost of assuming is the whole chain.
