Canadian diploma recognition in Türkiye

To study further, sit a public examination or practise a regulated profession in Türkiye, a Canadian degree needs a recognition decision. The apostille comes from Canada; the translation and the certification chain happen here.

A translation made in Türkiye is accepted

For this file, a sworn or notarised translation prepared in Türkiye is accepted, together with the required certification chain.

A degree earned in Canada is not automatically usable in Türkiye. For further study, a public competition or a regulated profession, a recognition decision is required.

Which authority

It depends on the level. Higher education is dealt with by the council responsible for that field; secondary-level and vocational qualifications by the education ministry. See higher education council and ministry of national education.

The rule that sets the calendar

The apostille is obtained in Canada, on the diploma and the transcript, before anything is sent and before any translation. A document that reaches Türkiye without one has to go back, and that is the most expensive mistake in this kind of file.

Documents normally required

  • The diploma and a complete transcript covering all periods of study.
  • Course descriptions where the authority asks for them — the bulkiest item by far.
  • Identity documents and, depending on the case, civil status records.
  • Translation into Turkish in the form the authority requires.

Ask for the exact list before ordering. Translating a full set of course descriptions when only a few are needed is the most common avoidable expense in these files. See course descriptions.

Federal or provincial apostille

Canadian competence is split between federal and provincial authorities depending on the document. A degree from a Québec institution and one from another province may not follow the same route. Identify the issuing institution and check which authority covers it. See apostille for Canadian documents.

Recognition is not a licence

The decision concerns the level of your studies. Practising a regulated profession in Türkiye requires a separate authorisation from the body that governs it. Obtaining one does not give you the other.

English is not enough by itself

Canadian documents are already in English or French, which helps, but a Turkish authority expects a Turkish version. The original language shortens the work; it does not remove the requirement.

What we do

We translate into Turkish and run the certification chain here, then file on your behalf where you have given a power of attorney. The decision, its timing and any additional requirements belong to the authority — we do not influence them and do not predict them.

Documents from a closed or merged institution

Canadian institutions merge and restructure like any others. Where an issuing body no longer exists, its records normally pass to a successor institution, which becomes the correct contact for both the transcript and any letter the Turkish authority requires. Establish who holds the archive before ordering an apostille: an apostille can only be placed on a document that an existing authority has actually issued.
