Express Entry: which documents when

Two stages, two document sets. Translating everything at profile stage is the most common way applicants spend money months before it is needed — and sometimes on documents that expire before they are used.

Accepted under conditions

The translation may be made in Türkiye, but it is accepted only once the correct certification chain is complete. If the order is broken, the file comes back.

The single most useful thing to understand about Express Entry, from a document point of view, is that it has two stages — and they do not need the same paperwork.

Stage one: the profile

You create a profile and are placed in a pool. At this stage you declare information rather than upload a full file. What you genuinely need in hand is the evidence behind your claimed points: a language test result, and an educational credential assessment if you are claiming points for foreign education. See educational credential assessment explained.

Stage two: the application

If you are invited to apply, a deadline starts and the full document set becomes due: identity and civil status records, police certificates, proof of funds, work reference letters, and the education documents behind the assessment. This is the stage where translation actually matters.

The expensive mistake

Translating everything at profile stage. Two things go wrong. First, you may never be invited, and the money is spent for nothing. Second — and more painful — several Turkish documents have a short acceptance window. A police certificate obtained and translated a year before the invitation may be too old to use, so you pay twice for the same document.

What to prepare early anyway

Documents that do not age: diplomas, transcripts, and the assessment that depends on them. These take the longest to obtain, especially from older Turkish universities, and there is no downside to having them ready. Anything with a freshness window is left until the invitation arrives.

Work experience letters

Reference letters are the quiet problem of these files. They must describe actual duties, not just a job title, along with dates, hours and salary. Turkish employers rarely write them in this form unless asked, and former employers become harder to reach over time. Request them while you still can, even years ahead. See Turkish employment letter.

The social security record

Turkey keeps a central record of declared employment periods, which does not depend on any employer still existing. It is the strongest supporting evidence for a fragmented career. See social security employment record.

What we do here

We obtain Turkish documents on your behalf, arrange the apostille process with the competent Turkish authority, translate, and courier. We do not create or manage your profile and we do not advise on eligibility — that is immigration advice, and we are not immigration consultants. See what we do and what we do not.
