Study permit: Turkish documents

Acceptance letter, proof of funds and education history — plus, for Québec, a provincial acceptance certificate that must come before the federal permit. Missing that order is the usual cause of a lost intake.

Accepted under conditions

The translation may be made in Türkiye, but it is accepted only once the correct certification chain is complete. If the order is broken, the file comes back.

A study permit file is smaller than an immigration file, but it has a fixed deadline: the intake. Everything is planned backwards from it.

The core documents

  • The letter of acceptance from the institution.
  • Proof of funds covering tuition and living costs.
  • Previous education records: diploma and transcript.
  • Passport and, depending on the case, civil status records.

The Québec order

If you are studying in Québec, a provincial acceptance certificate normally comes before the federal permit. This is a sequence, not a choice: applying federally first wastes the time you do not have. Confirm the current requirement on the official page for your programme before planning dates.

Proof of funds

A single day’s balance is weaker evidence than movement over a period. Turkish banks issue statements and balance letters, frequently in English on request — which can remove the translation step altogether if the receiving body accepts English. Ask your branch. See Turkish bank statements.

If a family member is funding you

Expect to document their income and the relationship between you, not merely the existence of money. Income evidence from the Turkish tax administration carries more weight than a bank balance alone. See Turkish income statement.

Education records in English

Many Turkish universities and some high schools issue documents in English. Where they do, and where the institution accepts English, no translation is needed. This is the single cheapest check in the whole file. See Turkish student affairs offices.

Working backwards

Count back from the intake: acceptance, provincial certificate, federal permit, and before all of that, obtaining and translating your Turkish documents. The Turkish stage is the shortest of these, but it cannot start until you have the records — and old school records take time. Begin with those. See how long the Turkish side takes.

What we do

We obtain Turkish education and civil status records, arrange certification, translate, and courier. We do not advise on programme choice or admission chances, and we are not education agents.

Renewals and second years

A study permit is not the end of the document work. Renewals, provincial certificate extensions and post-study applications each ask for current paperwork, and some of it must come from Türkiye again. Order spare certified copies while you are already ordering, and keep digital copies of everything you submit. A second retrieval from abroad, a year later and under a deadline, is far more expensive than one extra copy today.
